about Dubrovnik

Meet Dubrovnik locals - Tomislav Rugole - Torres

Tell us a bit about yourself: where you were born, where do you live, what do you do?

I was born in ugliest village on Earth, I live in jungle and my main occupation are doubts.

Why do you choose to stay in Dubrovnik? Would you like to stay here in the future, or you would like to move one day?

Well, when I saw Dubrovnik it was love at first sight. Dubrovnik is gorgeous, mysterious and it
is a city with a great legacy. That something special awakened in me my love for Dubrovnik.
Besides that, Dubrovnik gave me everything, and at this point, I am ready to give Dubrovnik all
the love that it needs.

What is your spirit animal?

I would say undoubtedly a tiger. The emphasis lays on unpredictability, that one ability to trust in
yourself and your primal instincts. It is very important to have willpower, especially intuition to
act fast when it is the most necessary. That is how I see myself. But, I am more like a cat and if I
have to choose, what would I like to be in my next life my answer is definitely enjoying a cat life
on the Island of Mljet. In memorial, this one goes to my very good friend Blita. #Rip

Can you recommend to our readers, what is the best “hidden gem” in Dubrovnik?

If I told you, it wouldn't be hidden anymore. There are so many of them and Dubrovnik is anyway full of surprises, there are so many things to offer but it is on you to discover them. That is the real beauty and your job is to scratch underneath the surface, if you know what I mean. I have an advice for the future guests and that is: Enjoy Dubrovnik as the locals do: eat with the locals, drink with the locals! Get lost and fall in love with Dubrovnik from another perspective, because Dubrovnik is a gem by itself. It is the Pearl of the Adriatic and it should be treated that way. Would you agree?

And some best places to go out in Dubrovnik?

At this point, I am not going out at all, I do have a drink or two but I am mostly focused on my work. That makes me happy and things are about to change. There are a lot of beautiful places to go out, but they say that Gruž is the next Burbon Street.

Where would you recommend to chase the bestsunset in Dubrovnik?

The Dubrovnik sunsets are a whole other dimension of this world. They are so special, that they give you chills. I would say, nothing can beat the sunset from Park Orsula.

Favorite beach in Dubrovnik and area?

That would be the Zaton Bay near Gverović Orsan restaurant. I spend almost every day there with my girls, enjoying our time together and I can say I love every second of it. And when the red button is on there is always the black risotto, bevanda, and chit-chat with Igor. Can’t get better than that…
